Michael Pollan was very persuasive . I perferably thought his facts about high-fructose corn syrup ( HFCS ) was at most . The least convincting was when he wrote about not eatting anything your great-grandmother would recognize as foods . No one can really tell you what to eat , but taking your diet seriously is very important .
ReplyDeleteOther words , you should know what foods are good just because it taste good doesnt mean its healthy . I like to eat organic foods , such as fruits things you find in your farmers' market . One thing I would consider myself to do is stop drinking sugary liquids & more water in my diet .

The one i find more pesuasive is the rule to avoid foods containing high fructose corn syrup. The idea that i find least convincing to me is the rule to spend more, eat less. Many people buy cheap food while others spends lots of money on food that is not cooked. the rule that i already use in my own eating habits is the rule of not paying attention to nutritional science or the label on food.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading this chapter, and everything he said about HFCS, it reminded of an episode of "The Doctors" where they talked about high fructose corn syrup is one of the top labels on the back of our food we need to look for to know that our food is high on trans fat. This whole passage was very persuasive and it gave me an idea of whats best for me when it comes to what goes in my body. From now on, eating healthy and shopping at the farmers market will be a must.
ReplyDeleteThe one that was more persuasive to me was about foods containing high fructose corn syrup. The idea least convincing to me was don't eat anything that your great-grandmother wouldn't recognize as food. There's many new products at the market that are healthy, not all are bad for you. I enjoy reading this passage because everyone wants to learn more whats good for you and your body. One thing I consider in my diet is shopping at the farmers' market.
ReplyDeleteThe sentence "Eat food, not food products" was the most persuasive for me because it reflects my point of view about food. I like using butter in my cooking and I drink regular milk instead of fat free. I believe that is not the fat that is bad for your health but it is the quality you eat. I enjoyed reading the essay because it reveals the myth that the food industry in the States is retaining.
ReplyDeleteThe one that is the most persuasive to me is avoiding foods that contain high-frutose corn syrup. The rule about don't eat anything your great-great- grandmother wouldnt recognize as food wasnt to convincing due to the fact that there may be healthy foods and she may not even know the difference. I would consider eating less foods that are high in sugar if I am planning on dieting and shopping at farmer's market so that I would eat less processed/microwavable foods.
