  1. I feel that teenagers should be allowed to make the decision on whether or not they should get a tattoo. Often, it is true as in the article on Teenagers and Tattoos they often do it to "fit in" but others, who are more mature do it as an identity thing. It is a way to be different and also express ones self. Of course parents and teenagers get into dissagreements. But that is just another dynamic of the relationship between the two.I feel at that age, we are able to make our own decisions and choose for ourselves, and whether or not there consequences that follow we should be able to handle them. Reading the second article I was a bit confused. He began his story seeming to feel proud of his tattoo. But as the story progressed he talked of tattoo removal. Then in the end he decided not to do it. I feel he made a great point at the end when he said "it's the mark on me of a landmark thrill in life's uneven landscape-a success story written in flesh. I feel the same way. A tattoo, no matter how old it becomes always represents a time in your life, something to look back on that holds a certain memory. Just as adults keep pictures, tattoos are like a keepsake. Instead of looking at it as a permanent mark placed on someones skin. think of it as a memory u want to forever hold that was so great you had to put it in ink. Something greater than a diary, because it follows you and can never be lost.

  2. As a great tattoo lover I believe tattoos are incredible piece of art. this is why i think everyone should have right to choose weather to get a tattoo or not no matter one's age. of course giving such a big responsibility to a teenager could be tricky. i often think what kind of parent I will be one day, and if I'll be able to do my best. One thing I know for sure is that I would want to be there for my children, and if any of them want to have a tattoo I will make sure that everything will go right. Every tattoo tells a story. People use tattoos from ancient times to tell things about themselves that other way they won't.

  4. Teenagers should be able to make their own decisions of when to get a tattoo. On the second reading it talks about how some adults regret about getting a tattoo in their teenage year. Sometimes tennagers think about the present rather than the future. If teenagers think about the future and the places they would like to work in, many wouldnt have tattoo's today. In addition, i feel that teenagers should rethink their decisions of getting a tattoo so they don't regret it. When you regret something you're trying to erase what you've done. Is not worth doing something that you'll later regret.

  5. I’m a strong believer that teenagers should be able to make the decision whether or not to get a tattoo. Tattoos to me are more then just a permanent marking on someone’s body. Tattoos are art pieces and meaningful symbols of individuality. Yet I do agree that some teens simply have an urge to do things just to fit in with a crowd or to be rebellious. That’s obviously an awful reason to do anything, especially something as important as adding artwork to your body that will remain on you for life. It’s a big decision but I do believe teens are able to make such a choice for themselves. It would be a good idea just to help teenagers understand that it is a huge choice to make and if their not careful making this decision they could grow older regretting it. As in the second reading where it brought about the regret of getting a certain tattoo as well as bringing up the option of removal. Teens need to understand that tattoos aren’t just something to get but something meaningful that would have as much significance to yourself in the future as well as the present.

  6. I feel that teenagers should be able to make their own decisions of whether or not of getting a tattoo.Tattoos can be a presentation of happiness and also misfortune in a person's life. Or in some cases like in the article tattoos can be a "fashion statement" like a hairdo or makeup.I think getting a tattoo should be well thought and not a "fit in". Reading the second article, first made me think the man was very proud of his tattoo and memorable that he stills remeber the name of his tattooist. Later on he talks about the methods of removing a tattoo. He also says that having a tattoo can cause awkard social moments. As teenagers we often make rapid unthoughtful decisions that later on are regretable. I think teens need to think carefully before getting a tattoo because it's something that marks you in the present and in the future.

  7. I strongly believe that it should be the choice of teenager to pick and choose if they want a Tattoo. I agree with the author of "On Teenagers and Tattoos" that sometime teenagers may want piercings and tattoo's to be down with the crowd or to prove something to their peers. On the other hand alot of teenagers recieve tattoo's because it has sentimental meanings to them. For example i have 3 tattoos and all of them mean something important to me. My largest tattoo is the mostmeaningful, it has angels adn roses for both my grandparents that died. In the secong article it states how people get tattoo's and want them removed. I think this is only by choice,if a person gets something that dosent make sense on their body its their choice to ge it removed. The same choice they have to remove a tattoo is the same choice that they have to get a tattoo in the first place. Tattoo's something you dont just get for the hell of it, its a process in which should be thoight about before doing it.

  8. i believe everyone has the right to make their own decisions. In my point of view i dont think getting a tattoo is a good idea. i am a christian so im against that.Like in the first article i believe that everyone mostly gets tattoos to fit in. There are consequences to that though but they think is cool. In the second article the author talks about how proud he is of his tattoo. then he talks about methods for removing it. maybe after a while he realized that getting a tattoo was not worth it. You are marking your body like if you belong to something. The bible says are bodies are the temple of the holy spirit so we should not mark our bodies.

  9. As me hsving tattoos and piercings, i feel like i did some of them for attention so that people can ask me about it like oh did that hurt?. But I feel like in the first article that since the legal age to get a tattoo is 18, I think people who are of this age are able to make their own decisions. Even though I got my first tattoo when I was 16 I can remember it as that. I think all tattoos tell a story like in the second article becsuse theres a reason why the person got that certain tattoo at that time like it meant something to that person. I think teenagers should be able to make the decision to get tattoos because no matter what the parent says teenagers are teenagers and are going to rebel against what the parent wants. I think tattoos are like art and identify identity within in the person. Parents dont want their children to get tattoos at such a young age because they think they'll later regret it but adults even regret their tattoos. So no matter what age you are you can still regret a tattoo not just because youre a teenager. But at that moment and time the tattoo meant something to you so it can be like a memory that sticks to you forever.

  10. tattoos and piercings are so common these days that before reading these articles i never even paid attention to it. society today, its a priviledge to be cool and be a leader of the crowd, and by having "unique and cool" tattoos and piercing, it almost guarantees you that prestige. But as lightly as i've taken tattoos to be, they are certainly not after reading these 2 articles. Even though its a permanent mark on your body, i still feel that teenagers should have the decision on whether they get one or not. By 18, you are an adult who knows whats right and wrong, tattoos can be a memory of something special or just pure stupidity, and thats all for the person to decide. Like the second article "Under my skin"said, every tattoo tells a story, but its a delicate balance between getting a tattoo to fit in and getting one to celebrate a special period in life.

  11. matt tooker i think teens should be able to make some of there own decisions on there own but tattos are something that should be talked about with an adult because i dont think think that teens relize once they have a tatto it cant come off unless u pay alot of money to get it removed

  12. I believe teenagers should have the right to make a decisions of their own whether they want a tattoo or not. Also as stated in the article "On teenagers and tattoos" it is known that most teenagers get tattoos and piercing because they want to be apart of a group or some sort. Tattoos and peircings may be a way to some teenagers as a form of art or it can also be a way to fit in. Even though it is known to teenagers the permanent mark they are putting on there skin they would be more responsible of the location they're appling the tattoo too. In the second article it talks about tattoo removal. If the teenager was to make the decision of getting a tattoo it would be something that has some type of meaning to it. Before a person get a tattoo it must take some thought before getting the permanent mark
